Communications & Membership Manager,

Temple B’nai Torah, Bellevue, WA

 

Our Reform Jewish congregation, located in Bellevue, WA, in a large suburban city outside of Seattle has a reputation of being warm and welcoming. We are a place where people truly connect with each other and build their “Temple B’nai Torah family.”

Working with temple staff and volunteers, the Communications & Membership Manager will create and implement our communications and social media presence. This role will also run our member and community engagement programs for both new and existing members.

We are looking for a passionate, people-loving, tech-savvy individual who enjoys communicating, meeting and interacting with people from all age groups and encouraging them to get more involved in the community.

This is a part-time job of 20 hours a week. The hours will be flexible but will include occasional night and weekend work.

Responsibilities (Communications):

  • Working with the clergy, staff and lay leadership, develop and align marketing and communications and social media strategies
  • Create marketing materials and communications about temple life, activities and benefits
  • Create and distribute all digital and print communications, including:
    • weekly emails
    • quarterly newsletters
    • videos for recruitment and engagement purposes
    • website content
    • High Holiday direct mail packet
    • ads for both online and print publications
    • other creative marketing and recruitment materials
  • Create and implement a robust social media presence
  • Work with printing companies, website resources, communication vendors and community partners
  • Manage the Temple calendar

 Responsibilities (Membership): 

  • Be a point of contact with people inquiring about membership
  • Help recruit and retain members
  • Manage the process for the follow-up of potential members
  • Work with Office Manager to welcome and shepherd prospective congregants from initial interest through membership
  • Build relationships with new and existing congregants
  • Manage and maintain membership records and Religious School registration and tracking

Responsibilities (General):

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly evening Communication and Membership Committee meetings
  • Attend all major congregational events
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment that encourages living by the values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience implementing marketing and general communications, such as emails, websites, social media campaigns and print ads
  • Experience working with technology to communicate and market, such as Canva, Constant Contact, website platforms and CRM databases
  • Experience with social media, including Instagram, Facebook, Meta Business Suite
  • Strong commitment to providing extraordinary hospitality experience to members and prospective members and modeling the same for volunteers and staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of working well with others
  • Superior communication and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities and strong project planning skills
  • Ability to set priorities, work independently, follow through on programs and projects, and adapt to changing situations
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions and practices and Jewish community issues and organizations
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft and Google office suites

 

Duration: 20 hours per week.
Salary Range: $35,000 to $40,000 depending on experience
Preferred Experience: 3 years of relevant experience
Preferred Degree: Bachelors
