The Gordon School, a vibrant and growing K-6 Community Day School in the heart of Miami, is looking for a dynamic and creative Hebrew Language teacher to infuse our Hebrew instruction program and school community with formal and informal Hebrew context, learning and a love of the Hebrew language. The Gordon School is dedicated to helping children reach their highest potential through our warm, nurturing, child-centered environment, and program of academic excellence.  We teach our children to cherish the wisdom and faith of Judaism and the Hebrew language and embrace its rich heritage.


The Hebrew Language Teacher will plan, organize, administer, and direct all activities for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The goal of the job is to implement the Mission Statement of the Gordon Day School while providing the maximum opportunity for student development and learning.



  1. Credentials/Minimum Requirements

    2. Holds a current certification in Elementary School, and/or Hebrew/ Judaic Studies or is eligible to apply for teacher certification in the State of Florida.

    3. Holds an undergraduate or a graduate degree in Hebrew.

    4. Is fluent in both spoken and written Hebrew.

    5. Has previous experience teaching modern Hebrew to Elementary age students.



General Duties

  1. Prepares and implements appropriate long-range goals and objectives within his/her assigned age and developmental level, grade level and/or curricular area.
  1. Establishes implements, maintains, and evaluates the learning environment in which the spiritual, emotional, psychological, academic, and social needs of the students are met.
  1. Conducts, on a day-to-day basis, classroom instruction relevant to the attainment of the written goals and objectives and maintains and develops ongoing lesson plans.
  1. Develops and fulfills the requirements of the religious, academic and education programs.
  1. Cooperates and collaborates with his/her colleagues and administrators in the total operation of the program.

Specific Duties

  1. Prepares specific learning goals (long range) and objectives (short range) for students within his/her designated age and developmental level, grade level and/or curricular area.
  1. Implements the learning goals (long range) and objectives (short range) through appropriate lesson plans and daily instruction within his/her designated age and developmental level, grade level and/or curricular areas.
  1. Creates and maintains a learning atmosphere which affirms the dignity of each student, and teaches each child in a manner which will meet his/her learning styles and needs.

    4. Evaluates and modifies, on an on-going basis, his/her teaching techniques relevant to the progress of the students.

  1. Provides supervision and activities, if necessary, for students before and after school and during the lunch period, and recess time.


Job Type: This is a full-time exempt teaching position.  We are seeking a candidate who is community centered and willing to not only help shape our school, but grow with and immerse themselves in our community.

Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000
