Seeking Teaching Artist-Educator for Theatrical Shabbat Experience for Kids and Families

Searching for Adventurers!

We’re going on an Ark Adventure, come on and climb aboard! The K’ilu Company seeks a dynamic Performing Artist-Educator with a background in Jewish tradition and Theater for our 2025-2026 Ark Adventures ensemble. Ark Adventures is an immersive theatrical Shabbat program designed for 0-4 year olds and their families that currently runs monthly in-residence at Congregation Beth Shalom in Northbrook, IL.

Ark Adventures Leader

  • Seeking Artist-Educators with experience leading a room/program/service and who are comfortable memorizing and performing scripted performance. 
  • Seeking Artist-Educators with comfort and proficiency in singing, solo and with a group.
  • Seeking an Artist-Educator familiar with Jewish stories, particularly Torah.
  • Seeking Artist-Educators who enjoy: Working with early childhood and families; interactive storytelling; puppetry; singing as part of an ensemble
  • Seeking Artist-Educators with availability on select Friday and/or Saturday mornings once a month

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions and rituals
  • Strong stage presence and/or experience teaching/storytelling
  • Jewish educational background is preferred 

Additional Information:

  • Ark Adventures Artist-Educator rate - $100/performance and $20/hr for rehearsals.
  • Artist-Educators are scheduled for program dates based on availability and not required to be at every date in the program schedule 
  • All performances and rehearsals will take place in Northbrook, IL. Artist-Educators are responsible for their own transportation.
  • Hired Artist-Educators will be required to participate in paid training, to be scheduled based on artist availability.

 

Program Schedule:

Fridays at 10AM Saturdays at 11AM 

(Call time is 1 hour before the start of the program / Program runs 1 hour)

  • November 7 and 8, 2025
  • December 12 and 13, 2025
  • January 9 and 10, 2026
  • February 6 and 7, 2026
  • March 6 and 7, 2026
  • April 10 and 11, 2026
