Job Title: Membership Engagement and Communications

About Beth Torah Congregation: Beth Torah Congregation is a welcoming Jewish community in Toronto that bridges modernity and tradition to connect all who are interested in participating in Jewish life.

Job Description: Beth Torah Congregation is seeking a creative and motivated individual to fill the role of Membership Engagement and Communications. This dual role requires an individual who can effectively manage both programming initiatives and communication strategies to enhance engagement within our congregation and beyond. 

Responsibilities (Communications):

- Operate and manage social media pages to promote events, engage with the community, and share relevant content. 

- Design captivating graphics for social media posts, website banners, flyers, and other promotional materials. 

- Regularly update and maintain the synagogue's website with current information, announcements, and event details.

- Send out weekly bulletins and emails to keep members informed about upcoming events, programs, and community news.

- Assist in designing holiday magazines and newsletters, ensuring content is visually appealing and informative. 

- Coordinate the printing and distribution of flyers and printed bulletins around the synagogue, ensuring they are up to date and strategically placed. 

- Edit and enhance videos to create engaging content for online platforms.

Responsibilities (Membership Engagement/Programming):

- Design and execute a diverse range of holiday programming throughout the Jewish year, including High Holidays and other significant occasions.

- Develop, organize and run programs throughout the year including those for young families and young adults.

- Assist in coordinating speakers and other program contributors throughout the year.

- Implement marketing strategies to promote programs effectively and attract participation from the congregation and the wider community.

- Communicate with members about upcoming programming, providing clear and compelling information.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong event planning and coordination skills. 

- Effective marketing abilities to promote programs and engage participants.

- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva) and video editing tools.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Familiarity with Jewish traditions and culture and basic knowledge of Hebrew (fluency not required)

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently manage multiple tasks.

- Passion for Judaism and a commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
