Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, oversee, and execute the orchestration of all development activities, including:

  • Writing an annual development strategic plan for MJDS in collaboration with the HoS, Business Administrator, and Donor Relations and Stewardship Coordinator
  • Coordinating and directly executing solicitations of all special and major gifts of $1,000 and above
  • Organizing and overseeing a biannual fundraising event and event committee with the purpose of raising funds and cultivating the donor base and MJDS community (Standard goal $150,000)
  • Collaborating with HoS, internal partners, and lay leaders to develop and execute long-term endowment strategy
  • Executing an active legacy donor program with the goal of appropriately stewarding current legacy donors and cultivating and soliciting new legacy donors on an ongoing basis
  • Partnering with the Board President and the Development Chair to determine and execute annual development-related goals for the Board of Directors, including educating and guiding Board members on their roles in development
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Director and Donor Relations and Stewardship Coordinator on all donor and constituent communications

In collaboration with the Business Administrator, guide and oversee the work of the Donor Relations and Stewardship Coordinator including:

  • Annual Campaign strategy and solicitations ($320,000 goal in FY 22-23)
  • Development Committee strategy and goals
  • Broad-based stewardship and communications
  • Grants
  • Accurate gift entry in DonorPerfect database, gift acknowledgement, and reporting
  • Fruit and Nuts Fundraiser (Annual goal approximately $70,000)
  • Lead the Advancement Team to ensure any overlapping and collaborative efforts of Development, Marketing/Communications, and Alumni Relations are strategic and coordinated
  • Sit on the Board of Directors’ Community Connection Committee with the goal of increasing engagement with core constituencies, primarily grandparents, alumni parents, and alumni
  • Collaborate with and assist HoS with all areas related to the ongoing vitality and sustainability of MJDS
  • Collaborate and work in partnership with the Business Administrator and Director of Admissions, Outreach, and Alumni Relations in all areas related to donor cultivation, reporting, and communication.
  • Educate and guide staff and families to understand and deliver on their roles in development
  • Communicate development strategies, activities, and progress toward goals as appropriate to the Board, HoS, faculty, and parents
