Join Brandeis Hillel as our Executive Director Fellow (working title).
This Fellowship is designed for an organized, detail-oriented and mindful young professional graduating from Brandeis (undergraduate or graduate school).
The early career professional in this role will have an in-depth and unique window into Hillel and nonprofits. They will have meaningful opportunities to learn how a nonprofit embedded on a university campus achieves its mission day-to-day while pursuing an ambitious strategic plan.
The Fellow will interact frequently and substantively with senior professionals, board members and decision-makers. During this one-year, highly selective fellowship, they will provide support and partnership to the Executive Director and the Assistant Director. They’ll strategize, facilitate, and support various projects associated with long-term strategy and planning, as well as with the everyday activities of senior professional leadership.
Assist with monitoring and responding to inbound communications on behalf of the Executive Director and the organization.
You’ll often be the first connection point for emails, phone calls, in-person visits, and student interactions with a friendly greeting and support.
Support and execute a variety of events and activities: from fundraising with the Executive Director to student community building through partnerships with campus operations and caterers.
You’ll learn about and help to manage financial systems and purchasing, our student-facing communications (email and social media), to give you a full and deep understanding of every aspect of our organization and our mission.
Provide support to the Executive Director.
Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director and Assistant Director (on matters concerning student community) as they plan events and initiatives, and outline relevant strategic goals.
Participate in routine staff and planning meetings of the Executive and Assistant Director.
You’ll provide administrative support as needed to the Executive Director. This may include assistance with expense reports, managing payroll functions, booking travel, organizing meetings, and inputting data into our database.
Other duties as assigned.
Brandeis Hillel serves one of the most diverse and affiliated Jewish student populations in the country. Working at Brandeis Hillel is an opportunity to inspire and prepare the next generation of Jewish leadership. Brandeis Hillel has eight professionals, a dedicated board of directors and passionate students. We’re embarking on an exciting new strategic plan through 2028.
Brandeis University was established in 1948 by the American Jewish community at a time when Jews and other ethnic and racial minorities and women faced discrimination in higher education. Today Brandeis is home to 3,600 undergraduates and 2,000 graduate students.
Brandeis is consistently ranked as one of the best schools in the country for Jews in large part due to Hillel. We are located in Waltham, ranked in 2018 as Money magazine’s best city to live in Massachusetts (about 10 miles due west of Boston).
Brandeis Hillel is a registered 501c3 affiliated with both Hillel International and Brandeis University.
