Temple Bat Yahm’s religious school, the “Jewish Center for Arts and Learning” (JCAL), is searching for a part-time Administrative Assistant to join our innovative team. The Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations and functions of the religious school, JCAL, and family and youth engagement programs. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The Administrative Assistant will be part of a supportive learning community that nurtures individual’s growth and creativity. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • School Administrative Support: Ordering supplies and textbooks in the summer and throughout the year; organizing materials; copying; and providing general school administrative support, including answering calls, emails, and correspondence, scheduling meetings and appointments and maintaining filing systems. 
  • Data Management: Maintain and update registration and school databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records. Generate reports, track registrations and student levels, and assist with data analysis as needed. Keep school calendars accurate. 
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing events, meetings, and family services. This includes coordinating logistics, managing registrations, preparing materials, ordering food, and providing on-site support during events. 
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and photocopying. 
  • Project creation – optional: a creative person who likes arts and crafts will enjoy this side of the position, brainstorming holiday-related projects and creating mock-ups to ensure they work before use in a learning environment. 


  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit organization, preferred. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. 
  • Knowledge of CRM specifically Shulcloud preferred. 
  • Warm demeanor/pleasant with people preferred. 
  • Interest in crafts a plus. 
  • Experience with website maintenance a plus. 
  • Must be committed to the mission and values of the synagogue and religious school. 

Working Conditions: 

This position is part-time (15 hours), with standard office hours. However, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for events and meetings. The weekly schedule will be modified accordingly. 


The salary for this position varies depending on experience and qualifications. Temple Bat Yahm offers competitive salaries and benefits packages.
