For the 26/27 School Year

The duties and responsibilities of the STEM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEM and computer science in our Innovation/Maker Lab.

Responsibilities and Duties

Instruction and Integration The STEM teacher shall:

  • Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 5.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEM and online tools.
  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.
  • Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEM learning experiences.
  • Create hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement for STEM.
  • Demonstrate scientific concepts using models, technology, and other standards or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
  • Thoughtfully integrate instructional technology—including emerging AI tools—into planning, collaboration, differentiation, and assessment, in alignment with the school’s educational philosophy.

Leadership and Professional Growth The STEM teacher shall:

  • Identify and apply educational and technology-related research, the psychology of learning, and instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education.
  • Identify, implement, and investigate software in both classroom and administrative environments.
  • The STEM teacher will identify resources, plan, and design staff development activities to support professional growth in learning technologies.
  • Participate in professional development experiences that allow him or her to observe, evaluate, and apply the use of technology to support instruction.
  • Evaluate each student’s progress in their scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Track and report performance data to determine where changes need to be made and which strategies and methods are working.
  • Attend special events held by the school and engage with students and/or parents in an appropriate, friendly way.
  • Attend work a maximum of eight working days prior to the commencement of classes and two administrative days following the conclusion of the spring semester of the school year.
  • Participate in the ongoing curriculum development attend all teacher meetings.
  • Communicate with the parents of each student.
  • Prepare and present regular oral and written reports to parents concerning their child’s education and welfare.
  • Maintain student and family confidentially both on and off campus.
  • Performs other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
  • It is essential for the Employee to arrive on time to work every scheduled work day. It is essential for the Employee to maintain good attendance and give ample notice, when possible, when Employee will be absent. It is essential for Employee to speak to co-workers with respect and to follow all of the requirements and expectations in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university. Must have a valid FLDOE Teaching/Temporary Certificate in this field and have 2 years teaching experience. Expert level of technology and 21st century learning understanding and application. Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction. Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc). Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills. Salary based on experience.
