Job Title: Contract Graphic Designer Organization: Congregation Beth Israel Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Remote or Hybrid) Job Type: Contract / Part-Time Compensation: Commensurate with experience Hours: Approximately 5–10 hours per week
Job Description: Congregation Beth Israel (CBI), a warm and welcoming Reform synagogue in Scottsdale, Arizona, is seeking a creative and reliable Contract Graphic Designer to support our communications and marketing efforts. This part-time contract position involves creating visually compelling digital and print materials that communicate the vibrancy of synagogue life and engage our community.
The designer will be responsible for producing our weekly e-newsletter and designing graphics to support programs, holidays, fundraising campaigns, and other events. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and understands the rhythms of Jewish communal life.
Responsibilities include:
Design and format the weekly e-newsletter (currently in Constant Contact), ensuring clear messaging and engaging visuals
Create flyers, brochures, social media graphics, signage, and other marketing materials
Maintain consistency with CBI’s branding and design standards
Collaborate with staff to develop creative assets that support synagogue programming and strategic goals
Contribute to seasonal and campaign-based design needs, especially around Jewish holidays
Qualifications:
Strong portfolio of graphic design work, preferably including nonprofit or community-based projects
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Canva
Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp)
Excellent design, layout, and typography skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
Familiarity with Jewish holidays, Hebrew terms, and synagogue culture is a strong plus
Clear and timely communication skills
