Director of Jewish Teen Foundation of Greater Boston (JTFGB)

Hebrew College has an exciting part-time, 20 hour per-week opportunity for an outstanding Jewish professional to direct the nationally known Jewish teen philanthropy program for Boston-area high schoolers, the Jewish Teen Foundation of Greater Boston (JTFGB).

The position is based at Hebrew College in Newton, MA, with flexible hybrid work options. The salary range is $30,000-$35,000, commensurate with experience. The position begins on July 1, 2024.

Background on JTFGB

JTFGB is an academic year program for Jewish high school students of different denominations from across the Boston area. Our engaged and interested students work together to develop strong leadership and communication skills, learn the “ins and outs" of professional Jewish philanthropy and grant making, raise money for their causes, and learn how to effectively allocate grants for the causes for which they care most deeply.

JTFGB welcomes both returning students and recruits new students every year.  Recruitment is done mostly by word of mouth and by the reputation of this outstanding program.  Our JTFGB students come from families with a wide range of Jewish practices, identities, and affiliations.  Students join JTFGB after a brief application and interview process.  JTFGB also has a Leadership Council for our most experienced students, who help recruit teens, run meetings, encourage other students to fundraise, and create enthusiasm for the program.

Students and families highly value this program, and many students include essays detailing their experiences in the program in their college applications. Students highlight their experiences regarding working with others on developing consensus, learning how to talk about non-profit organizations, and developing mission driven statements as highlights of the program.

Primary Responsibilities for this role:

Program Management

  • Be responsible for overall planning of the program, with support from Hebrew College Teen Learning Staff and JTFGB Advisory Council
  • Ensure curriculum and planning materials reflect the vision of the program and meet the needs of our students.

  • Collaborate with Hebrew College’s Development team to meet JTFGB’s annual fundraising goals including engaging with JTFGB’s Advisory Council.
  • Work with Hebrew College administrators to ensure that students are properly registered in their classes and effectively deal with billing and registration issues as needed.
  • Work with Hebrew College’s marketing team to publicize the program.
  • Market and recruit new participants from Boston area schools and organizations.

  • Experience directing or leading teen philanthropy or teen education programs.
  • Experience in Jewish program management.
  • Familiarity with pluralistic Jewish settings and the ability to work well across difference.
  • Experience with, and an excitement about, working with and supporting a diverse group of Jewish teenagers and their families.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A desire to be a part of a community learning team which values collaboration, open dialogue, and communication.
  • An ability to be on-site on Sundays at Hebrew College once-a-month for JTFGB meetings (approx. 10 meetings per year).
