Congregation Tiferet Israel (CTI) is Austin’s Modern Orthodox community, and is one of the fastest growing congregations in a vibrant city. Situated on the Dell Jewish Community Campus in the heart of Austin, CTI serves the entire Jewish community by warmly embracing all Jews, inspiring them to grow in their dedication to and love of Chesed, Halakhic observance and Zionist values. Our rabbi, Rabbi Dan Millner, embodies a rare commitment to both Judaism and country, bringing the Torah to life and inspiring the community through his work as an Air National Guard Chaplain. With a board and membership filled with US & Israeli veterans, CTI instills a love of and commitment to the dignity and welfare of the broader world. CTI is especially adept at welcoming our youngest members by weaving them into the fabric of every aspect of synagogue life. CTI is a community for individuals and families seeking to connect with one another, feel a profound sense of belonging, forge lasting, meaningful relationships, while growing spiritually and intellectually in Jewish values, practice, faith and knowledge.

Like Austin, CTI is in growth-mode. Our membership has grown 20% in the last year alone, bringing our synagogue to just over 100 family-units. But this is just the beginning! We are looking for a partner with a pioneering mentality - eager to join our leadership team as we continue to expand this incredible community.

As Director of Enrichment & Engagement (DoEE), we are looking for an active, full-time partner committed to guiding individuals and families on their Jewish journey. Whether it's welcoming new faces on Shabbat and Yom Tov, spiritually engaging members and prospective members through classes, celebrating with them at events and programs or mentoring their little ones in our Hebrew School, CTI's DoEE should be the comforting and consistent presence that new and established members can rely on throughout their experiences and interactions with the synagogue solidifying it as their spiritual home.

This role will report directly to Rabbi Millner and the President of CTI (currently Daniel Ledeen). Though there are many ways to cultivate these sentiments, and we welcome creative suggestions from applicants, our 4 DoEE leadership focus areas are:

  • Youth Education: CTI's pride and joy - help foster the involvement of our young members in the life of the synagogue and our larger Jewish community by nurturing their love of Torah, Judaism, ritual observance, and support for Israel.
  1. Hebrew School - Implement & innovate curriculum/budget for grades K-3 and 4-7
  2. Shabbat and Yom Tov - Develop & organize innovative, fun and educational youth programming
  3. NCSY - Work with San Antonio NCSY and Southwest Regional NCSY to help build an independent Austin NCSY chapter
  4. Attend monthly meetings as part of the Shalom Austin Youth Educator Council & represent CTI at community-wide youth/education events
  5. Facilitate youth events/volunteer opportunities
  6. Foster intergenerational friendships and mentorships

  • Community Outreach: Members are the heart of CTI, and we want to make sure they feel continuously welcomed, heard and valued.

  1. Hosting Shabbat/Yom Tov meals from time to time to continue to increase membership and assure we consistently engage personally with our diverse synagogue family
  2. Maintaining communication with individuals / families so they feel supported and that CTI is meeting them “ba’asher hu sham” on their spiritual journeys.
  3. From time to time, providing a one or two-day special learning course at the Havruta School (topics like holiday specific learning)
  4. Representing CTI by liaising with other community organizations and stakeholders to increase synagogue visibility, grow membership, and promote CTI interests

  • Women's Engagement: CTI is committed to ensuring that every member of our community feels seen, heard and valued. Ensuring that the women of our community feel this way is an essential aspect of CTI and one of our chief values. Engaging CTI’s female demographic is key to helping our community grow, while also inspiring future generations of female Jewish leaders in their love of Torah, halakhic observance and Jewish peoplehood.
  1. Empowering female presence and helping women take on a more present role in the synagogue
  2. Providing lessons on Taharat Hamishpacha & female spirituality
  3. Directing women's learning initiatives,  (speaker series, group projects, volunteering, etc)
  4. Bat Mitzvah tutoring

  • Events Coordinator: Nothing solidifies membership involvement and participation more than meaningful events to foster belonging and build relationships.
  1. Chairing the CTI Events Committee by planning, organizing, budgeting private synagogue and community-wide participation events (eg. holidays, fundraising, etc.)
  2. Recruiting and helping members become more involved through volunteer opportunities

  • Leading educational classes
  • Cross organizational relationship-building and representation
  • Youth education and engagement experience
