The Family Programs and Events Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing a variety of fun, enriching events for families with children ages 0-8 in communities including but not limited to Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Lexington, Belmont, Watertown, and Waltham. Family events include those focused on social connections and those that are framed around Jewish holidays, culture, and values.

The Family Programs and Events Coordinator will support the success of these events through needs assessments, innovative program planning, program design, stakeholder communications, logistical support, and staffing on the day of the event. This is a 20-30 hour/week hybrid position with in-person time required for meetings and program implementation. The work includes weekend hours (typically 3 hours/event; 1-2 events/month).

position will pay a starting salary of $27 - $29/hr. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hours the employee will work, the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. Additionally, the position offers free membership to the JCC Greater Boston facility in Newton – offering virtual and in-person programs including indoor swimming, many fitness classes, and workout facilities as well as discounts to many JCCGB events, classes, outdoor pool, and more.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Needs Assessments then partner on collaborative strategic planning across the family engagement team offerings
  • Program planning and execution including but not limited to creating a welcoming dynamic where each participant feels seen and welcomed, finding venues and performers, creating complementary activities, purchasing and transporting supplies/food, promotion, coordinating on-site staffing, building relationships with local constituents and program partners, both Jewish and secular
  • Budget oversight
  • Participate actively as an essential member of the Family Engagement team. Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values including through personal role modeling. Attend JCCGB All Staff meetings.
  • Additional responsibilities, as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the needs of families with young children. Creative ability to translate ideas, feedback, and data into innovative and meaningful experiences that meet the needs of families.
  • Able to design programs that integrate Jewish values to create compelling and joyful experiences
  • Outstanding project management skills from design to implementation, managing deadlines with high attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances. Self-starter who takes the initiative.
  • Works well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships. Superb interpersonal and active listening skills. Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Social media literacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Licensed to drive and can provide own transportation

 

Essential Functions

  • Able to lift and transport program supplies (may be up to 30 lbs.)

JCC Greater Boston is a nonprofit organization with roots in earlier Settlement Houses and Young Men’s Hebrew Associations; JCC Greater Boston today offers a wide range of services and program activities throughout the Greater Boston region (~50,000 individuals annually in 98 communities). In response to current local public health situations, our practices have previously included, and in the future may include, ensuring proper physical distancing, sanitation, hygiene, vaccination requirements, and use of face coverings to promote the health of our staff and program participants.
