Chief Operating Officer / Senior Attorney

SEEKING A CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER FOR A NYC-BASED JEWISH FOUNDATION

A well-financed NY city-based foundation seeks a Chief Operating Officer able to begin immediately.  We are a mission-driven foundation engaged in philanthropy in the USA and Israel, with emphasis on Jewish education, arts and culture, safety net, science, and healthcare.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Work directly with the CEO to prepare board resolutions, interface with the board’s executive committee, and review contracts with in-house legal team.
• Work closely with the CEO to oversee the foundation financial portfolio and governance policies.
• Oversee the entire foundation staff and handle direct reports.
• Oversee the office and building arrangements of the foundation.
• Review grants and programs with responsible staff members.
• Review and evaluate staff reports and progress.
• Handle salary reviews.
• Interface with legal counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. An advanced CPA degree, MBA, or a CPA/JD preferred with experience in managing investment portfolios for a college, pension fund, non-profit organization, or not-for-profit foundation. At least 15 years’ experience.
2. Ability to oversee mission and policy compliance, staff members, and HR issues, including benefits, 401K, and insurances.
3. Familiarity with grants processes and review procedures.
4. Familiarity and knowledge of the Jewish community in the USA and Israel a strong plus.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

This is a full-time, hybrid (3-days/week in office) position with outstanding benefits.

Annual Salary will range between $400,000 and $500,000 and is commensurate with experience.
