POSITION TITLE: Director of Corporate Initiatives
HIRING INSTITUTION: The Louis D. Brandeis Center, Inc. (“Brandeis Center”) is an independent, nonprofit civil rights organization established to advance the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and promote justice for all. The Brandeis Center develops law-based initiatives to combat campus anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism. We utilize legal advocacy, research, and education to engage and train stakeholders and fight against discrimination.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Louis D. Brandeis Center For Human Rights Under Law is looking for an exceptional attorney to join our legal team’s work to stem the rising tide of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism in the corporate world.
The Brandeis Center is implementing an exciting new project using its legal expertise and successful approach in higher education programs to combat corporate anti-Semitism through training; legal review; and strategic advice. The Director of Corporate Initiatives will play a key role in this vital project by helping to manage the program; communicating to corporations that Jewish Americans are entitled to the protection of civil rights law; and educating corporate audiences about common contemporary manifestations of anti-Semitism.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The Director of Corporate Initiatives will be responsible for duties such as managing training and legal advocacy programs related to workplace anti-Semitism; delivering written and oral presentations to a variety of audiences; researching substantive issues of federal and state law; interacting with complainants, witnesses, government officials, public interest advocates, other nonprofit organizations, corporate employees and executives, activists, and/or the public at large; preparing legal complaints, briefs, and related documents; assisting in the preparation of conferences, workshops, lectures, and symposia; preparing continuing legal education materials; developing public policy white papers and related policy materials; and generally providing trusted legal and policy support; and may also be responsible for supervising the work of interns, clerks, and assistants.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate should have a J.D., and background in labor and employment law (with 5+ years of experience preferred); excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school; maintain the highest standards of integrity; exhibit excellence in legal analysis and writing; and display, at all times and to all persons, a courteous, professional and cooperative attitude. A demonstrated interest in LDB’s mission is preferred.
LOCATION: Washington, DC. Telework available for those in alternative locations.
COMPENSATION: Non-profit market competitive.
TRAVEL: Travel may be required.
