Shir Hadash, a small Reconstructionist Community in St. Louis (26 families) seeks an energetic Cantorial Soloist / Song Leader to co-lead our 2024 High Holiday services in coordination with our Rabbinic Intern (a current 5th year rabbinic student). This can be an annual opportunity for the right candidate. Our previous soloist was with us for 11 years.
We're looking for someone who will partner with our Rabbinic Intern (who has led our services for the past two years) and Ritul Committee to create a meaningful spiritual experience for our community. We have comprehensive service outlines, recordings of previous melodies used, and are flexible and willing to incorporate new prayers and melodies. Guitar or other musical accompaniment to singing is a big plus for us.
High Holiday duties include working with our Rabbinic Intern and our volunteer High Holiday Shepherd (coordinator) to prepare and finalize service outlines and to be accomplished in the delivery of all responsibilities. We have a very participative community; members read Torah, chant Haftorah, and sometimes contribute musically. We will cover reasonable travel expenses.
Our High Holiday machzor is: Kol Haneshamah Prayerbook for the Days of Awe
