ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Congregation B'nai Tikvah is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue on the North Shore of Chicago. Our goal is to provide a Jewish home for our congregants emphasizing joy and meaningful engagement. With a collaborative staff and clergy we seek to provide a spiritual, educational and social offerings for our over 460 family units.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for the next piece of our staff puzzle. A successful candidate is a personable, hard working and eager team player who is interested in supporting our vibrant, warm and growing congregation.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position works directly with the Executive Director and the Director of Education and supports senior staff by helping with daily operations of the synagogue. This role is often the first point of contact for congregants,  parents and guests, requiring professionalism and the ability to work effectively in a team setting. With attention to detail this person would be managing multiple projects and responding proactively in a dynamic work environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome people into the synagogue (answer phone & the door)
  • Handle all building meetings, outside vendor appointments and room rentals
  • Organize synagogue mailings, non-ritual donation letters and synagogue and school calendars 
  • Order office and kitchen supplies and keep inventory
  • Set up rooms for programs and meetings
  • Offer adminstrative assitance to the Executive Director 
  • Staff Shabbat morning services approx. 1 time per month
  • Assist Director of Education with school communication and other duties

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Word, Google, Zoom and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about Jewish practices and observances

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • Full Time/ in person position Monday-Thursday 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am-2:00 pm and one Saturday morning Shabbat service per month
  • Annual Salary of $45,000 -$47,500
  • Benefits include 5 days of PTO, the week between Christmas and New Years off, 2 weeks paid vacation, closure of office operations on major and select minor Jewish and Federal holidays.
