The Development Associate will be responsible for the planning and execution of the Camp’s comprehensive development program, with the primary objective of growing our Annual Fund. The Development Associate will report to and collaborate closely with the Executive Director and work with the Camp’s volunteer leadership. Primary duty will be the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of supporters of Camp Young Judaea. The focus on five priority areas: 1. Grow the Annual Fund by 15% each year2. Develop and build an Annual fundraiser in our four major cities: Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio3. Maintain the fundraising database and donor information4. Oversee a Donor Stewardship plan that touches each donor once a month5. Oversee external communication by assisting Board Members and other lay leaders in their solicitation efforts as well as through the creation of various updates and marketing pieces to enhance development efforts We believe that other development opportunities will be leveraged given the right leadership, strategy, and direction set by a development professional. Qualifications: • Passion for the mission and values of Camp Young Judaea – Texas is a must.• Strong interest in the field of development and fundraising.• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with professional staff and volunteer leadership.• A skillful storyteller in both speaking and writing. A sense of humor and the ability to write and communicate humorously. Strong verbal and written skills. Exceptional listener, engaging conversationalist with genuine curiosity about others and the ability to encourage others to share their own stories.• Ability to recruit, prepare, organize, motivate, and hold accountable volunteers to partner with fundraising efforts.• Familiarity with Judaism and Jewish education – a meaningful understanding of Jewish camping is highly desirable. • Highly computer literate with a proven understanding of technology. Using fundraising software, Excel, Word, and basic html skills is desirable.• Bachelor’s degree
Responsibilities: A. Oversee and Manage the Annual Fund Campaign • Develop the “road map” for all fundraising programs in consultation with camp leadership, professionals and volunteers. • Execute a 12-18 month comprehensive Annual Fund plan• Work closely with lay leadership to oversee, manage, and track participation in development efforts. • Work closely with the Executive Director to assess the program's progress and manage his progress with donor/prospect assignments. • Coordinate all communications and public relations for the camp’s fundraising efforts, including, but not limited to: Press releases, event publicity, and web communication. • Organize related fundraising activities including but not limited to tribute programs and smaller-scale fundraising for events (e.g. sponsorships), parlor meetings/cocktail parties.• Supervise the day-to-day administration of all development programs.B. Data Management • Oversee management of the donor database and ensure a timely, accurate, and efficient process of gift/pledge entry, acknowledgments, reminders, and record-keeping.• Responsible for data mining to identify and learn about prospective major donors – especially Camp Alumni. • Seek out foundations and other institutional funders interested in supporting the camp and oversee grant writing and proposals. C. Additional Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Camp Team to ensure a successful summer.• Be on-site during the summer in Wimberley, TX for development opportunities and meetings for about two weeks throughout the summer.
