Position Summary:
UJA is seeking a senior research associate with exceptional analytical and statistical skills to assist with the analysis and reporting of the 2023 Jewish Community Study of New York. The U.S. Census is prohibited from asking questions about religion, so the 2023 Jewish Community Study of New York is the prime source of information about the Jewish community used to inform policy and direct resources to communities who need it most. The ideal candidate will have an educational and employment background in conducting quantitative social science research and will be a self-motivated and independent worker.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Cleaning, coding, and preparing data files for analysis using statistical programming.
- Conducting quantitative analysis, including descriptive and/or multivariate analysis.
- Assist in the writing and editing of reports and presentations for lay audiences.
- Summarize study results through charts, graphs, and presentations.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Master’s degree in a social science or other field with a research focus, such as psychology, sociology, or public policy preferred.
- Demonstrated and exceptional experience manipulating and analyzing datasets.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently on multiple projects.
- Strong quantitative and statistical skills.
- Expertise in statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R).
- Enthusiasm for research and intellectual curiosity.
- Interest in and knowledge of the Jewish community is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, foster consensus, and collaborate with individuals and organizations with a range of interests and perspectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
