Golda Och Academy (GOA) is a vibrant learning community that focuses on the individual intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of each child. We cultivate in our students a lifelong love of learning within the context of Jewish knowledge and tradition. Our school is located on two campuses — our Wilf Lower School Campus and Eric F. Ross Upper School Campus in West Orange, NJ. We serve over 400 students from Pre k-12th grade from communities across New Jersey.

Position Description 

The Associate Director of Development is a collaborative and dynamic team player who has a passion for creating connections between our school and the GOA community, including parents, grandparents, alumni families and friends. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, this professional is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the school’s Annual Fund giving program.  This includes recruitment of volunteers, identification of potential donors, and engagement of our GOA constituencies. The Associate Director will further the mission of GOA by showcasing the school through innovative communications, outreach and events that will help our school to enhance our philanthropic support. Successful candidates will work well independently and collaboratively, possess strong organizational skills allowing them to oversee multiple concurrent projects, and have demonstrated ability to maintain strong relationships in a warm, nurturing and tight-knit community.

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

Annual Fund 

  • Planning and Implementation of the GOA Annual Fund campaign  

  • Lead the GOA Annual Fund volunteer team including volunteer recruitment, training and making solicitation assignments. 

  • Responsible for constituency outreach, communication and engagement 

  • Responsible for direct solicitation assignments. 

  • Responsible for donor cultivation and stewardship event strategy and implementation. 

  • Promote and grow our annual fund donor giving societies

  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to write compelling messages, execute direct mail and email solicitations, including content development.

  • Set and achieve annual fundraising objectives and report on achievement of these objectives.  

  • Collaborate with the Database Manager on all daily operations for the GOA Annual Fund including reporting, gift processing and acknowledgement letters.

  • Work closely with the Alumni Coordinator to coordinate outreach and engagement of alumni and alumni parents. 

  • Staff the GO LEAD leadership development program.  

Spring Gala

  • Direct and oversee the school’s largest fundraising event of the year- the Spring Gala including event planning, outreach and fundraising. 

  • Develop a new and enhanced corporate sponsorship program.

Development Team 

  • Work with the Director of Institutional Advancement and other members of the Development team on other projects as needed.   

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in nonprofit fundraising

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects  

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent donor relations and customer service skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills  

  • Familiarity with Jewish day school and/or Jewish community fundraising  

  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office and Google suite

  • Some evenings and weekends are required

  • This position is a primarily on-site role

  • COVID-19 Vaccination is also required
