Job Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) will provide the leadership and strategic direction in the management of a fast paced social services organization (“Agency”) serving the Western Massachusetts community. The CFO will be responsible for the organization’s financial, administrative, human resource, and facility functions. The CFO will ensure the organization is in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, and the requirements of funders and donors.

Responsibilities
• Oversee and safeguard the company’s financial resources and ensure funds are put to the highest and best use in accordance with the Agency’s mission
• Identify growth opportunities and develop work plans for Agency analysis methods and systems to increase accuracy and efficiencies while controlling costs
• Advise the Chief Executive Officer of any potential exposures and claims to protect against property losses and potential liabilities. Keep Chief Executive Officer informed of significant issues that might jeopardize the achievement of organizational goals or reputation
• Develop and monitor the Agency’s annual budget and work in collaboration with Directors on grant and contract budgets and budget amendments as needed throughout the year
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure accountability and internal controls
• Summarize, analyze. and report on the Agency’s financial health, based on projected operations
• Be an active member of Board Finance Committee and Agency Management Team
• Present monthly and annual financial reports, budgets, and any other financial related matters to the Board of Directors
• Manage, support, and coach employees in Fiscal Office, Human Resources, and Clerical Office
• Oversee and approve grant management and reporting including, but not limited to, review of all monthly invoices to ensure compliance with grant requirements
• Negotiate contracts with financial institutions, information technology companies, and insurance companies to manage risk, and information privacy and security, while ensuring compliance with required regulations and contract provisions
• Oversee information technology resources and organizational requirements. Triage information technology issues and coordinate resolutions in the most cost-effective way
• Coordinate annual audit with finance staff and auditors including the timely submission of all external returns and filings including, but not limited to, Form 990, Form PC, and State Uniform Financial Report Commonwealth Annual Report
• In collaboration with Human Resources administrator, coordinate, review and negotiate employee annual benefit plan agreements
• Oversee all facility related improvements, maintenance, and capital projects, negotiating agreements for the same
• Review and approve bi-weekly payroll processing register, month-end and year-end closing processes, and monthly journal entries for accuracy
• Act as support and backup for all Human Resource management functions including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, payroll, initial employee orientation, CORI processing, and benefits management
• Undertake specific tasks assigned by the Chief Executive Officer to enhance and ensure effective overall operations of the Agency
• Act as custodian for financial, personnel, and legal records
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Act as an ambassador for the Agency in all internal and external communications


Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s degree or professional certification preferred
• Minimum of five years experience in non-profit management accounting
• Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire team members
• Excellent analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and accounting software; Sage 50 preferred
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and experience in broad range of administrative and management areas
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
