Temple Beth Am, a vibrant, growing Reform synagogue in Framingham, MA, is seeking warm, experienced, motivated religious school teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Temple Beth Am is a welcoming, supportive workplace, where the staff work collaboratively to support each other. Religious school teachers are supervised by Cantor David Wolff, lower school director, and are supported by the Rabbi and Cantor of Temple Beth Am, both of whom are recent graduates of Hebrew College in Newton. Teachers also have classroom support from our corps of high school-aged madrichim (aides), and our religious school administrator. Qualified college students are welcome to apply.
Temple Beth Am is seeking teachers for students aged 2nd grade through 5th grade. Positions are available for Sundays only (9-11 AM), and for Sundays (9-11 AM) and Wednesdays (4-6 PM). There is also a potential position for 1st semester only (September – December).
Compensation is competitive with other synagogues, commensurate with experience, up to $55/hour. For each 2-hour teaching session, teachers are compensated for an additional 30 minutes of planning time. Teachers are also compensated for monthly staff meetings, and a day of planning/set-up time at the beginning of the year. Temple Beth Am religious school is closed for all local school breaks, and for all Jewish holidays. The school year runs from September - May.
Applicants should be excited to positively engage students with Jewish learning! Applicants should have teaching experience, and a basic knowledge of Jewish customs, holidays, and Hebrew. Teachers are expected to prepare lesson plans for each class, and to write brief weekly emails to the families in their class.
