Our preschool teachers are essential to the Bender JCC, creating a warm, engaging, and safe environment and community for our students. The Bender Early Childhood Center is one of our core programs, and our teachers are central to the functioning of the school. We are hiring both lead and associate teachers, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly with our community and have a significant impact on the experience of our preschool families.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure a high quality experience for our students and families, consistent with our values and licensing requirements.
  • Be a life-long learner, open to feedback and seeking professional growth opportunities.
  • Take initiative to be a partner in planning and implementation of lessons in the classroom.
  • Develop and convey a familiarity with Jewish rituals and customs, while creating a warm and welcoming community for or diverse student body.
  • Provide excellent communication to the appropriate parties.
  • Participate in the life of the school and JCC beyond the classroom, creating a sense of community and camaraderie throughout the program.
  • Take pride in the physical environment of the class and school, ensuring the class and school are clean, organized, safe, and presentable.
  • Stay up-to-date on licensing requirements, including annual continuing education hours.

You should have:

  • First Aid and CPR training and certification.
  • 4 year College Degree in Early Childhood Education *

or

  • For lead teachers – 90-hour certificate* in early childhood curriculum & development* and minimum 3 years’ experience, with increasing responsibility, working with preschool children in an approved center or equivalent work experience.
  • For associate teachers – 90-hour certificate in early childhood curriculum & development or early childhood coursework with 1 year experience working with preschool children in an approved center or equivalent work experience.
  • Physical ability to ensure the safety and care of the children, including, but not limited to, lifting (up to 40 lbs), carrying and chasing children.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Required COVID-19 vaccination

 *For lead teachers, if you do not have the 90-hour certificate in early childhood curriculum & development or the equivalent college courses, you must begin the class during your first 6 months of employment and complete it with a passing grade within the first year of employment.

 

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position, with a salary starting at $37.5K for associate teachers and $44K for lead teachers, commensurate with experience. The Bender JCC provides a benefits package that includes 403b, medical, dental, and vision benefits, Paid Time Off (PTO), and a flexible working environment.
