Food Service Liaison

Since 1902, Surprise Lake Camp has been a place where kids can grow, connect, and experience the magic of summer in the Hudson Valley of NY. Set in the mountains of Cold Spring, NY, we are a traditional sleepaway camp with strong programming and beautiful surroundings. We are looking for a Food Service Liaison to help keep one of the most important parts of camp running smoothly… the food.

This role sits right in the middle of our kitchen team, dining room staff, food service provider, and camp leadership. You’ll help make sure meals stay on schedule, communication is clear, and things run the way they should across camp.

You do not need to be a chef for this role. It’s about being organized, communicative, and able to jump in, solve problems, and keep things moving.

The position runs from June 3 through August 23, with some flexibility on both the start and end dates. The role is based on site in Cold Spring, NY and includes housing and meals for the summer.

What You’ll Do

• Be the go to connector between the kitchen, dining room team, food service provider, and camp leadership
• Help keep meals running smoothly and on time
• Support front of house dining operations during meals
• Assist with ordering, inventory, and coordination across teams
• Jump in to troubleshoot and solve problems as they come up
• Support pre season setup and end of season clean up

What We’re Looking For

• Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations
• Experience supervising, coaching, and training staff
• Highly organized and self motivated
• Able to work well in a fast paced environment
• Familiar with health department regulations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to oversee inventory and distribution to chefs and kitchens
• Proactive, level headed, and able to manage multiple moving parts
