Grant Writer/Development Coordinator Job Description

About The Selfhelp Home

Founded in 1938 as a refuge for Holocaust survivors, The Selfhelp Home honors its legacy of empathy and state-of-the-art care as an urban, independent non-profit home where older adults receive the highest quality of care in a culturally rich Jewish environment, while maintaining the highest rating of five stars by Medicare, awarded Best Nursing Homes by US News & World Report, and earning The Joint Commission Seal of Approval for Post-Acute Care and Nursing Care Center.

Selfhelp’s legacy of caring and compassion for fellow human beings is at the heart of everything we do for older adults and their families. Our 144-room home at 908 West Argyle Street offers independent and assisted living, skilled nursing and a short-term rehabilitation, and is recognized as a top-tier provider by Northwestern Hospital.

The Selfhelp Home is located in a densely populated urban setting, in the heart of Chicago’s multiethnic, multiracial North Side, with a large older Jewish population. Many residents are well into their 80s, 90s and beyond, with 43 of our 97 residents ranging from independent living through skilled nursing exhibiting symptoms of various stages of dementia.
