About the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition
Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition is a network of Jewish community organizations who recognize the existential threat and moral urgency of climate change and commit to take action. Coalition members develop Climate Action Plans, which outline the strategic priorities of their organization’s climate work.
Through a variety of program supports (including learning sessions, resources guides, and climate action loans and grants), the Coalition supports its members to develop, implement, evaluate, and share their Climate Action Plans annually. Job Summary
Roles and Responsibilities
The Baltimore Climate Action Coordinator will coordinate the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition’s activities in Baltimore, MD. They will build strategic partnerships with the Associated: Baltimore Jewish Federation and its network agencies to support Baltimore-based Jewish community institutions in identifying, evaluating, and implementing climate solutions to lower/eliminate their greenhouse gas emissions. This includes:
- Baltimore Climate Action (50%)
- Recruit Baltimore Jewish community organizations to join Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition
- Support Baltimore Coalition members in developing organizational Climate Action Plans
- Support Baltimore Coalition members in implementing organizational Climate Action Plans by providing expertise in climate solutions (including installing/accessing clean electricity, energy efficiencies, facility electrification, and/or nature-based climate solutions)
- Support Baltimore Coalition members in implementing organizational Climate Action Plans by connecting Coalition members with local partners who can support their climate solutions through expertise and resources
- Connect Baltimore Coalition members with local, state, and federal funding sources to support their climate action initiatives
- Manage regional community of practice for Baltimore Coalition members
- Promote Coalition at Pearlstone programs, tours, and events and share about Pearlstone activities/opportunities with Baltimore Coalition members
- Generate interest in and consult on allocations of Baltimore Green Loan Fund
- Collaborate with Baltimore Jewish Council on annual climate advocacy event
- National Climate Action (45%)
- Provide climate expertise in energy-specific solutions and/or nature-based solutions
- Coordinate a national Coalition community of practice (meets quarterly)
- Support national Coalition programming by helping develop resources guides, presenting at workshops and seminar , and holding staff office hours
- Attend weekly department meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, and other meetings as required (virtual)
- Tracking work progress in a shared data management system
- Other duties/tasks as assigned
Skills
The ideal candidate for the Baltimore Climate Action Coordinator position will possess the following skills and experiences:
- Strong background in climate/sustainability solutions, notably energy-specific solutions and/or nature-based solutions, as defined by 3+ years of active work experience
- Strong background (lay or professional) in Jewish communal engagement
- Familiarity with regional climate legislation, incentives, and partners
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to adapt to changing situations
- Comfortable working virtually
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, exempt position with work hours set to Monday-Friday, with some evening/weekend work a possibility. This is a Baltimore-based position. Employee will work remotely, with occasional access to office space at Adamah’s headquarters at Pearlstone Retreat Center. Regional travel to local Jewish community institutions will be expected.
