Your Mission

You are driven and able to serve and strengthen the North American Jewish community by implementing, leading, and refining a successful fundraising program for a trailblazing organization with a dedicated and growing* team.  You strive to grow and to build.

* The successful candidate will leverage their skills, experience, and other qualifications to play an integral role in building Lech-Lecha to the point where this fundraising position can become a full-time role with corresponding salary and benefits.

The Fundraising Specialist's Mission

With direction and support from the Director of Strategic Development and also reporting to the Executive Director, the Fundraising Specialist will drive Lech-Lecha's fundraising activities and meet our contributed-revenue targets through the following process:

  1. Prospecting:  Research and identify opportunities to obtain funding from foundations, donors, and Federations, prioritizing those prospects that have the potential for higher ROI, greater flexibility, and long-term partnership.
  2. Outreach:  Perform initial outreach to prospects in order to obtain additional information and guidance, establish a relationship, arrange initial meetings, and execute other activities necessary for beginning to convert each prospect into a funder and partner.
  3. Prospect Meetings:  Prepare for, coordinate, and lead initial and subsequent meetings, including prepping other members of our team for their participation as needed.
  4. Making the Asks & Owning the Process:  Execute the fundraising activities laid out in our Donors & Campaigns Calendar.  Hold direct ownership for our fundraising process, prospects, and partners.  Serve as Lech-Lecha's primary representative and point of contact for prospects, institutional funders, and individual donors.  Gather necessary information from other team members, manage fundraising workflows, draft written materials including prospect backgrounders, cultivate and maintain strong relationships, and make tailored asks and solicitations in writing and in meetings.  Leverage and expand our networks and funder base in order to meet our fundraising objectives.  Make proactive use of our CRM to ensure that all next steps / follow-ups are executed as needed.
  5. Grant Writing + Grant Reporting:  Share these responsibilities with the Director of Strategic Development and take lead on them by or before the six-month mark.
  6. Stewardship / Donor Journeys:  Execute the stewardship activities laid out in our Donors & Campaigns Calendar, in collaboration with other team members as appropriate.  Maintain all prospect, donor, and funder profiles in our CRM.
  7. Processing & Reporting:  Work with the Director of Outreach & Engagement to process individual donations.  Work with the Director of Strategic Development to optimize our internal assessment of and reporting on fundraising activities, strategies, and results.
  8. Additional:  As needed and as time allows, collaborate with other team members on additional fundraising materials, events, processes/systems, databases and software, optimization, and channels (e.g. corporate matching programs, DailyGiving.org, youth philanthropy programs, and government and corporate grants and sponsorships, and others in the future such as a planned-giving program).  Propose refinements and additions to our fundraising strategies as needed.
  9. Professional Development:  Participate in various PD opportunities to build your skillset.

Hours & Compensation:  10-20 hours per week @ $18 - $26 per hour depending on experience.
