About JGO:

The Jewish Grad Organization (JGO) is a dynamic organization dedicated to enriching the experience of Jewish graduate students on over 150+ campuses. We provide support through Jewish programming, funding initiatives, and access to speakers across various professions and specialties.

Position Summary:

JGO is seeking a strategic and driven Director of Legal Community Engagement and Partnerships to strengthen and expand our relationships with attorneys and law firms in the New York area. This hybrid role—available as either full-time or part-time—offers the opportunity to significantly grow financial support for our mission of empowering Jewish graduate students. The role blends remote flexibility with in-person relationship-building across the New York metropolitan area. The ideal candidate has a strong track record in fundraising, business development, or client relations. This person will also take the lead on planning programs and events that engage the legal community, deepen relationships, and foster a strong network of supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and drive a strategic vision to engage attorneys and law firms as passionate champions and partners of JGO’s mission.
  • Cultivate meaningful, lasting relationships with current and prospective donors in the legal community, inspiring deeper connection and increased investment in JGO’s work.
  • Identify, connect, and invite new attorneys and firms to join our growing community of supporters, expanding JGO’s reach and impact.
  • Craft compelling stories and proposals that bring JGO’s mission to life and highlight the transformative power of supporting Jewish graduate students.
  • Secure philanthropic commitments and forge creative partnerships that align the interests of donors with JGO’s vision for growth.
  • Get out into the community! Lead in-person meetings, coffees, and networking across the New York area to build authentic connections.
  • Keep donor relationships organized and moving forward by maintaining accurate records in Salesforce (or equivalent CRM), tracking outreach, interactions, and progress.
  • Inspire through impact: Regularly share powerful updates, success stories, and program highlights to keep supporters engaged and energized.
  • Spot and nurture potential lay leaders in the legal field who can serve as ambassadors and advocates for JGO’s mission.
  • Dream up and lead dynamic networking events, programs, and experiences that bring the legal community together in meaningful ways.
  • Track success and sharpen strategy: Measure progress, analyze data, and continuously refine engagement efforts to maximize results.
  • Stay curious and informed: Keep a pulse on trends and innovations in fundraising, community engagement, and legal sector philanthropy.

Qualifications:

  • A deep passion for JGO’s mission and supporting Jewish graduate students.

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, business development, or client relations, with proven success meeting goals.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to form authentic, high-level relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including proposal and presentation skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing independent work.

  • Experience using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.

  • Must be based in or able to travel regularly within the New York metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and commitment (full-time 80-110k, or part-time).

  • Comprehensive benefits package available for full-time employees.
