The IACT (Inspired, Active, Committed, Transformed Coordinator)/Program Associate recruits Tufts students for Birthright and other Israel trips sponsored by Tufts Hillel. They plan, implement and staff trips in consultation with senior Hillel staff, tour providers and other vendors. The Associate works closely with the approximately 150 current students who have or will participate in one or more of these trips by developing follow-up programs to engage then in Jewish life at Tufts and to provide opportunities for meaningful Jewish experiences. This person will also act as a liaison to Jewish community organizations that work with young adults to assist graduating students in continuing their connection to Jewish life after graduation.
Tufts Hillel is private, not-for-profit organization that serves as the center for Jewish campus life at Tufts University. It is nationally recognized for its cutting edge approaches to engaging students in meaningful Jewish experiences. Students are empowered to take responsibility for their Jewish identity, whether they wish to participate in a community service project, express themselves artistically, participate in a social event, engage in informal Jewish learning or attend religious services. Hillel is committed to a pluralistic vision of Judaism that embraces all movements. We provide a strong community that enriches the lives of our Jewish students and the University as a whole and that enables members of these communities to come together in a welcoming atmosphere to all. Hallmarks of our programming include a commitment to social justice and a dedication to prepare Jewish students to be active and responsible members of the larger community and prepare them to be active and engaged members of the Jewish community after they graduate from Tufts. We provide a nurturing environment for students to grow religiously, socially and ethically as well as in love for Israel and, in community with other Jews, with respect for other faiths and a broad understanding of what it means to be Jewish. Approximately 25% of Tufts undergraduate students are Jewish. Tufts Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
