Description

Temple Israel of New Rochelle is seeking a professional, conscientious and detail oriented individual who enjoys making a difference, and being part of a team. This position supports the clergy of Temple Israel and serves as a warm and welcoming face of the organization.

Specific responsibilities include:

B’nei Mitzvah Scheduling

  • Scheduling B’nei mitzvah dates in coordination with clergy
  • Managing meeting schedules with families, tutors, and clergy
  • Liaison to B’nei Mitzvah families
  • Ordering student materials and assembling student binders
  • Preparing certificates and gifts for each child
  • Schedule sanctuary and chapel for rehearsals
  • Schedule sanctuary photography appointments
  • Manage oneg sponsors

 Worship Service Support

  • Coordinate calendar with custodial staff and administrative team for worship services, rehearsals, lectures, Torah study, B’nei mitzvah family meetings/classes, etc
  • Manage process for board member representatives and ushers for Shabbat evening and morning/afternoon services
  • Schedule all worship services on livestreaming platform
  • Prepare weekly Shabbat leaflet using Indesign

General Clergy Support

  • Manage clergy calendars
  • Assist with coordination of lifecycle events as needed, including bris, baby naming, weddings, unveilings, funerals, conversions
  • Coordination of High Holy days honors
  • Copy, edit sermons, articles and other writings
  • Manage correspondence to members and acknowledgement of donations

Yahrzeits

  • Manage yahrzeit records in ShulCloud
  • Run weekly yahrzeit report for upcoming yahrzeit dates and notify families of their upcoming observances
  • Manage yahrzeit special requests - pronunciations for clergy, moving yahrzeit dates

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage the installation of memorial plaques for congregation
  • Coordination of healing list for pastoral care
  • Release of weekly Temple wide eblast using Constant Contact
  • Assist with answering main phone line; address requests directly whenever possible before transferring to other staff

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Experience with Indesign
  • Ability to decode Hebrew (read w/o necessarily understanding) 

Salary Range

$45,000 - $50,000 based on experience
