Our client seeks an Assistant Director.

The Assistant Director is responsible for managing all aspects of office operation, including, but not limited to, the day-to-day management of clericals, customer service, professional and support staff, as well as the coordination of events. This position reports to the Executive Director and also provides assistance and support to the Executive Director. This is a full-time, in-office position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage professional and support staff of office, including, without limitation, making hiring and firing recommendations and performance evaluations.
  • Communicate expectations relating to job performance; provide feedback to staff
  • Supervise and assist in the planning of events
  • Develop and maintain office budget, as requested
  • When necessary, conduct and manage entire campaign from the beginning to end.
  • Provide oversight and assist in determining the appropriate local market for communal and individual activity
  • Supervise and participate in the scheduling and organizing of meetings and events, including, but not limited to, the preparation of budgets, the selection of honorees and speakers, printing of approved invitations, catering details, enlisting a function committee, coordination of lay leaders 
  • Ensure and participate in the following up of solicitations
  • Manage and participate in marketing presentations to individuals, small and large groups
  • Cultivate new groups and organizations
  • Handle telephone and in person inquiries
  • Provide general customer service
  • Manage customer database and update as necessary
  • Maintain knowledge of social/political/economic situation in Israel and the US
  • Manage campaign calendar and schedule
  • Develop new events/business
  • Work extended/evening hours, weekends and holidays when needed

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of sales or development/fund-raising experience
  • Knowledge of the American-Jewish community and Israel’s history and current social/political/economic situation
  • Strong written, oral, analytical, listening, and persuasion skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage professional and support staff
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher and DCI proprietary applications (IBIS, etc.)
