The Jewish Endowment Foundation of Greater Charleston (JEF) was established in 1996 to insure the long-term future needs of the Charleston Jewish community. The Jewish Endowment Foundation of Greater Charleston is a supporting organization of two partnering organizations: Charleston Jewish Federation and the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina.
JEF Foundation supports and invests in the present and future needs of the greater Charleston Jewish community and aides in providing stewardship, and knowledge to assist community members in all aspects of Tikkun Olam. JEF currently houses 60 funds consisting of Organizational, Scholarship, Designated, and Donor Advised Funds and has granted out over 5 million dollars since its inception.
JEF seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization into the next phase of growth and increase the future sustainability of the Charleston Jewish Community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead stewardship development, planned giving, direct competitive grant making, and scholarship programs.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the Board of Directors; actively develop and cultivate relations with directors and provide executive direction of program strategy and development.
• Oversee and manage stewardship, donor relations, and competitive grant process.
• Deepen relations with current Donors
• Represent the organization and increase public awareness by being the spokesperson and liaison with individuals and community organizations.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree required: preferably with an emphasis in business or non-profit management
• 5+ years of management experience with increasing responsibilities, with a minimum of three years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
• Demonstrated strategic and successful fundraising experience.
• Proven success working with a board of directors.
• Strong public relations, exceptional oral, written, visual, communication skills and demonstrated public speaking ability.
• Technical sophistication for outreach and future growth.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial terms and financial information.
