OVERVIEW
The Communications and Development Specialist (CDS) will join TI at an exciting time for our growing congregation. This is a never-a-dull-moment opportunity to work with an engaged and passionate congregation, get a wide range of experience in non-profit work and help shape an organization’s communications and development strategies.
The CDS will manage and execute TI’s digital identity and core communications as they relate to our members and the broader community. The CDS will also support and enhance development efforts. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is reliable, innovative, with excellent writing and design skills, and a strong understanding of social media.
This position reports to the Executive Director and will support the Director of Lifelong Learning and the Vice President for Communications.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
COMMUNICATIONS – 75%
Support the synagogue’s overall organizational communications strategy
Maintain, strengthen and expand TI’s identity and presence within the congregation and externally
Oversee and manage website design and content
Produce and disseminate e-communications
Manage and expand TI’s social media presence
Draft, edit and print paper materials
Promote TI activities via electronic and other media outlets
DEVELOPMENT 15%
Provide logistical and communications support to annual campaigns and ongoing development activities
OTHER DUTIES 10%
Manage documents, staff meetings and other support functions for board of directors
Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing social media content
Experience with basic web design and website management
Strong written communication skills
Familiarity with Canva or comparable graphic design program, basic HTML and CSS; Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects
Ability to work well with different types of people, good sense of humor, and strong customer service ethic
Team-player, able to self-manage when working independently
Familiarity with the Jewish life cycle a plus
Hours: Full-time, occasional evening and weekend hours
