Group Fitness Coordinator
Develop and implement consistent quality group fitness programs for: free group fitness classes, premium group fitness paid classes, spinning, pilates and yoga; and Wellness events and seminars. This includes supervising instructors, budgeting, programming and overall management. In accordance with the agency’s standards, the Coordinator will take responsibility to provide excellent service at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyze market needs, create and adapt programming to meet the needs and demands of current and prospective members.
Work with group fitness staff, Marketing and Membership Departments to sell the benefits of the programs to members and nonmembers.
Develop and implement programs and special events as they pertain to the group fitness program to maximize exposure.
Oversee all aspects of communication of group fitness programs including: maintaining updated schedules, preparing material for website, Program Guide and other promotional vehicles and communicating changes, as well as, cancellations with members via email and signs.
Oversee overall class scheduling and substitutions, minimizing class cancellations.
Work with the Health and Wellness Director to develop and implement a value added membership plan for Wellness. This will include (but is not limited to) yearly health fair(s), scheduling speakers and creating/editing a monthly wellness newsletter.
Participate in department and organization trainings/meetings.
Duties may change based on the business needs of the organization.
Supervise all group fitness staff to include: group fitness, yoga, pilates and spinning instructors. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: B.S. degree in Health and Fitness or a related field of study.
Experience: 2+ years experience in group fitness and exercise management.
Director must be able to interact positively with membership and staff as it relates to group fitness.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Director will stay current in the field of health and fitness and be informed on trends affecting group exercise.
Director must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Must be able to be able to handle conflict between staff and members in a positive manner.
Job requires Group Fitness/Wellness Coordinator to be in top physical condition to instruct group exercise classes as schedule demands.
Your schedule may include some evening and weekend responsibilities.
