4th Grade Hebrew Teacher

Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation in Reston, VA, is searching for a dependable, energetic individual to guide our students along their Hebrew learning journeys. You will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging lessons that teach Hebrew language skills, and traditions to students. The ideal candidate should be passionate about Jewish community, possess strong Hebrew language skills, and have experience working with children.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with the curriculum guidelines.
• Teach Hebrew language decoding skills.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Assess and monitor student progress to ensure understanding of materials and achievement of learning objectives.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, behavior, and concerns.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to coordinate activities and events that enhance the Hebrew School experience.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and stay updated on educational trends and practices.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience teaching Hebrew language and Jewish studies preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Jewish history, culture, holidays, and traditions.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching children.

Hours: 9:00am-12:00pm Sunday mornings, plus 30 minutes of lesson planning time per week, plus trainings throughout the year.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
