Temple B’nai Torah, a Reform Congregation, located on the south shore of Long Island in Wantagh, New York seeks a part-time Youth Activities Director to work with the Temple’s Youth Activities Committee to provide meaningful and recreational activities for our Temple’s three youth groups:  BNTY (grades 9-12); BNTY Jr. (grades 7-8) and MNTY (grades 5-6).  The ideal candidate is a talented college student or recent graduate who is interested in engaging with Jewish youth.  The Director will work with the Youth Activities Committee and the youth group’s teen leaders to create dynamic teen programming.  The Director will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the teen programming which includes, but is not limited to, weekly programming for BNTY and bi-weekly programming for BNTY Jr. on Monday evenings as well as monthly Sunday afternoon programming for MNTY.

 

The ideal candidate has organizational experience working with Jewish youth (Jewish camps, teaching or other synagogue youth leadership), the ability to lead programs independently, and working knowledge of current technology including document creation and social media.

  • Financial skills to assist the teens with managing the youth group’s budget
  • Innovative and creative

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and support the board of the teen youth group BNTY
  • Weekly programming (Monday evenings) for teen youth group, BNTY (grades 9-12)
  • Bi-weekly programming (Monday evenings) for jr. teen youth group BNTY Jr. (grades 7-8
  • Attend and participate the monthly meetings of the BNTY board, Youth Activities Committee and the Temple Board.
  • Event publicity and promotion
  • Regular communication with the Temple, the Clergy, youth group members, parents and the Youth Activities Committee
  • Manage youth programming budget in conjunction with Youth Activities Committee
  • Assist teens with creation of the BNTY Shabbat service
  • Chaperone members of the youth group when they attend NFTY programming
