Position: ADMINISTRTIVE ASSISTANT FOR RELIGIOUS SCHOOL AND YOUTH
Who Are We? The Agudas Achim School and Youth Program is a progressive, inclusive, dynamic program located in Alexandria, Virginia. Our program has over 100 students K - 12 and we are growing! The school meets twice a week using both in-person and virtual learning. We regulalry take our students into the community where students, staff, and parents explore all that the Washington DC area has to offer through Jewish eyes. The program elevates Jewish literacy including Judaic Studies, Hebrew, and prayer. Our goal is to build friendships between students, connections between families, and a joyful Jewish future for our members of all ages.
Hours: The Assistant job is a 20 hour a week position that is year-round. Hours may be split between working virtually and working on site. On site hours must include 5 hours on Sunday mornings during the school year.
Description: The Assistant works directly with the Education and Youth Director to develop and maintain a professionally run, creative, inclusive, Conservative Movement supplemental School and Youth program. The Assistant is the "face of the school" and as such needs a positive helpful attitude when working with current and future Religious School families as well as current synagogue members and staff. The Assistant is expected to behave in a professional manner and must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical behavior. The Assistant must be able to pass an annual background check which is a condition for employment.
The Assistant should have solid executive management and organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and a keen eye for detail and accuracy. The Assistant must be comfortable with Microsoft work suit, Google work suit, and be willing to learn to use software such as ShulCloud, Constant Contact, Sign-Up Genius, FaceBook, and other communication platforms. The right candidate will demonstrate grace under pressure, have a positive work ethic and sense of humor, demonstrate problem solving skills, and be willing to work as part of a team.
Duties: The duties of the Assistant include but are not limited to collaborating with the Director on the creation of the annual School and Youth calendar; coordinating meetings with other staff, congregants, and vendors; maintenance of school records; the creation and publication of a weekly eNewsletter; editing and reviewing print materials; managing the program's inventory of books and school materials; keeping all student information up to date; assisting and communicating with the teaching staff; and working with other administrative staff to answer phones and assist congregants who stop by the office.
Compensation: Pay for this position is competitive for the area and is based on training and experience. Some benefits are available with the employee's financial participation.
