Shenker Academy

Shenker Academy is located in the western portion of Clark County, Nevada, a master-planned community in the foothills of the Spring Mountains. It is a subsidiary of Temple Sinai, a Reform Jewish synagogue in Summerlin. The two entities collaborate in using the shared space. A school expansion is presently under consideration for the 2024-2025 school year.

Position Summary:

Seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of School to lead a private preschool in Summerlin. The Head of School will oversee all aspects of the preschool's operations, including curriculum development, staff management, budgeting, and parent and community communication. The Head of School will report operational and fiscal concerns directly to the Temple Sinai Board President. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a passion for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children.

Position Requirements:

Education and Training

An earned master's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Possess, in the process of, or is willing to acquire a Nevada administrative endorsement or School Administrator License.

Possess a Nevada Sheriff's card or can obtain said card, including background checks.

  • Completion of Mandatory Reporter Training, First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
  • A valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.

Experience

Have previously demonstrated at least five (5) years of successful licensed teaching experience in an accredited Pre-K-12 program or school.

  • Strong early childhood/prekindergarten curriculum background and experience with instructional planning and leadership.

Proven track record of success in classroom and administrative roles in early childhood, preschool, or elementary settings.

Oral and written communication expertise.

Mastery of collaboration and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures. If relocation is involved, willingness to acquire said knowledge.

Demonstrated experience in boosting enrollment and implementing new revenue-generating programs.

  • Ability to strategically staff, devise curriculum, recruit, and plan programs to bring the Shenker Academy into its next era.

Demonstrate the ability to cultivate an exceptional learning environment. High level of self-confidence, initiative, self-direction, and motivation.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage all office operations, including enrolling new families, ensuring the accuracy of all enrollment documentation, entering information into various systems of record, and creating/keeping organized files with all required documents in place for licensing and inspections.

Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, including the facility handbook, emergency preparedness plan, parent handbook, and employee handbook.

  • Supervise payroll and other HR functions efficiently, ensuring the facility operates smoothly and adheres to all policies and procedures.

Oversee the coordination and successful implementation of all maintenance schedules, issues, and weekly inventory, supplies, and sanitizing schedules. Manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.

  • Knowledge of legalities associated with personnel management and supervision.
  • Ongoing review, management, and assessment of the day-to-day issues of classroom management.

Ability to seek or supervise the pursuit of grant opportunities to support early childhood education. Capable of administering and implementing existing grants and their related budgets; assist with data collection and grant writing/monitoring.

Curriculum

  • Supervise the development of program design and implementation practices to positively impact early childhood education. This includes identifying and supporting successful intervention and acceleration programs to increase student achievement and assisting with implementing successful program practices, including ensuring end-of-year kindergarten readiness within all early childhood education programs. Supervise the staff's implementation of said curriculum.
  • Expertise in early childhood development, including the knowledge of best practices in early childhood curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of tools used to assess and implement high-quality programming in early childhood education and materials for all children at the correct developmental levels.
  • Ability to plan, design, present, and facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers, parents/guardians, and other audiences.
