Temple Israel of Great Neck is a Conservative, egalitarian congregation in Great Neck, NY. We are in search of an enthusiastic, creative, self-motivated, tech-savvy, and experienced Director of Communications and Marketing to join our team.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director of Communications and Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping the communications, branding, and marketing strategy of Temple Israel of Great Neck. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will collaborate closely with the President/Executive Committee, clergy, school directors, and lay leadership. The primary goal is to enhance engagement within our existing membership and promote our congregation and programming within Great Neck and the surrounding communities, with the ultimate aim of growing our membership.
KEY QUALITIES WE'RE SEEKING: The ideal candidate is a well-rounded expert in both internal and external communications and marketing. They should have a deep appreciation for the nuances of working within a synagogue environment, coupled with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively. Our preferred candidate should be driven, creative, and capable of driving change, all while meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate with senior staff to create and execute a strategic marketing plan encompassing all aspects of Temple Israel of Great Neck.
- Develop marketing materials for dissemination through email, social media, our website, and community channels to highlight Temple Israel of Great Neck.
- Design and coordinate email marketing, social media campaigns, and print materials.
- Manage and maintain the synagogue website, ensuring up-to-date content.
- Assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, emails, and website to make data-driven improvements.
- Organize and oversee photography at congregational programs and events, maintaining a digital photo archive.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Proficiency in crafting engaging emails.
- Experience managing a social media calendar (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and creating captivating posts.
- Proficiency in designing marketing materials and social media content using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other industry-standard design tools. • The ability to create ShulCloud forms for program registrations.
- Responsibility for updating the WordPress website, with a grasp of SEO techniques to boost site traffic. Knowledge of HTML, XHTML, and CSS is advantageous.
- A knack for increasing social media engagement across platforms.
- A strategic mindset regarding marketing and reaching target audiences.
- A well-organized system for online files of Temple Israel print materials, graphics, images, and videos, using platforms like Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Confidence in managing projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and layout design.
- Proficiency in communicating effectively with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in WordPress, MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact (or other similar email marketing tools), and Canva.
- Willingness to adapt and learn new skills.
- Experience in crafting social media strategies.
- Experience in producing internal and external marketing materials and communications such as brochures, flyers, and newsletters.
- Strong multitasking skills, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize projects.
