Work Schedule: 40 hours/week (hybrid: in-person and virtual)

Agency Description:

Jewish Family Service & Children's Center of Clifton-Passaic (JFS) supports and strengthens the lives of families, children and adults, ensuring access to high quality, affordable mental health services.  Founded in 1948 as a refugee resettlement agency, JFS has evolved into a full-service social services agency with a primary mission of supporting vulnerable populations in the community.   We offer a comprehensive array of programs that address the community’s needs and challenges, including financial assistance, vocational rehabilitation, crisis intervention specializing in domestic violence and outpatient mental health services for young children, teens, adults and seniors.   The agency provides non-denominational care with a focus on residents of Clifton and Passaic Counties.


Project SARAH (PS), a program of the Jewish Family Service and Children’s Center of Clifton/Passaic, is a culturally specific program which services survivors of the domestic violence and sexual abuse throughout the State of New Jersey. PS provides outreach and prevention work for the Jewish community, comprehensive therapy and case management services, and legal assistance to survivors in need. 


Job Summary:

The Rabbinic Outreach Liaison will oversee the prevention and outreach efforts in the Orthodox Jewish community throughout the state of NJ.  The focus of these prevention efforts is to support survivors and prevent others from being victimized by domestic violence and sexual abuse. 


The incumbent will have contact with schools and community leaders regarding implementation and development of effective prevention programs as well as ensure presentations are culturally informed and specific to the various communities within Orthodox Jewry.   The Rabbinic Outreach Liaison stays abreast of current community as well as domestic violence and sexual abuse resources and provides referrals to Project SARAH as clinical needs arise.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain relationships with Rabbinic leadership and other cultural leaders in the community through weekly outreaches and contacts.
  2. Attend and represent the agency in meetings and forums.
  3. Assist with donor relations which includes meeting with donors.
  4. Oversee schedule of prevention programs which includes coordination of volunteer presenters.
  5. Public speaking weekly which may include giving presentations.
  6. Assist with updating presentations and curriculum.
  7. Track inventory and order promotional items.
  8. Tend to questions which require guidance of Rabbinic leadership/Jewish Law
  9. Keep statistical records of programs and feedback.
  10. Develop, analyze and respond to needs assessments.
  11. Perform other related duties as requested.
  12. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership qualities.
  • Knowledge of Jewish laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Public speaking.


Education and Experience:

  • Orthodox Semicha
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or mental health related field such as Social Work from an accredited school
  • Driver’s License
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff and other volunteers.
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • A plus: Prior work experience with curriculum development
