Based in New York City, they represent thousands of US donors, alumni and stakeholders who invest in the Technion’s growth and innovation to advance critical research and technologies that serve the State of Israel and the global good. Over more than 80 years, their nationwide supporter network has funded new Technion scholarships, research, labs, and facilities that have helped deliver world-changing contributions and extend Technion education to campuses on three continents. ATS employs a staff of 70 + that work from New York and in regional offices across the United States.
YOUR ROLE
As the Director of Development, you will expand our presence and philanthropic impact in Metro Detroit. Reporting to the Regional Senior Director of Development, you will cultivate a robust donor pipeline, engage major gift prospects, and be a key representative of ATS within the local community. This is a unique opportunity to represent one of the world’s top science and technology universities—Technion-Israel Institute of Technology—and help drive innovation through meaningful donor engagement.
SKILLS and STRENGTHS
- Build and manage a portfolio of ~100 prospects, with a focus on high-net-worth individuals across various sectors.
- Solicit, cultivate and steward major gifts ($25,000).
- Deepen ATS’s presence in the region through high-impact events and alumni engagement.
- Collaborate with internal teams and Technion partners on prospect strategy, proposal development, and stewardship.
- Leverage data systems to track donor activity and insights; ensure progress toward annual and long-term fundraising goals.
- Manage budget and deploy resources strategically across the territory.
- Partner with local board members to expand regional awareness and drive philanthropic support for the Technion.
- Travel regionally as needed, with twice-yearly trips to the northeast for staff meetings.
Ideal Candidate
- 3-5+ years of fundraising experience with a track record in major gifts.
- Strong communicator, connector, and relationship builder.
- Self-motivated, strategic thinker who thrives in both independent and team environments.
- Passion for Israel and ATS’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree required; nonprofit experience and knowledge of the region preferred.
- Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is a plus.

Salary Range: $145,000 to $160,000
