Congregation Kol Tikvah serves as the spiritual and social home to more than 310 families in Northwest Broward County, Florida. We are a Reform, URJ affiliated synagogue with a rich 30-year history. We serve as the hub of Jewish life in Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate, Coconut Creek and beyond. We pride ourselves on our commitment to our community and living our Jewish values.
We are seeking an energetic, engaging and motivated professional to serve as our next Family and Youth Engagement Associate and Marketing Associate. While this is a full time, in person role, our candidates should anticipate that this is not a typical 9-5 position. The ideal candidate will help develop the Jewish identities of our youngest congregants by building meaningful relationships and executing best-in-class programs, while also using your social media and marketing experience to promote youth programming and synagogue life in general.
As our Family and Youth Engagement Associate (approximately 30 hours/week), it will be your primary role to connect and engage with our youth ages Kindergarten through 12th grade. Through your efforts, our youth will be able to better connect with our congregation and various initiatives as we work continue to build a successful youth program. You will be a visible presence during Mensch University (our religious school) days, working hand in hand with our Director of Education and Youth Engagement. In working with the future of our community, your primary responsibility will be to engage and empower the youth to create a space for all to participate.
As Marketing Associate (approximately 10 hours/week), you will coordinate our social media calendar, ensuring our synagogue has an active and engaged presence on all social channels, including Facebook and Instagram. You will serve a critical role in developing and delivering our story to the community – both those who are already engaged with us and those who will engage with us in the future. You will work with our Marketing Director to ensure consistent and concise messaging across all public channels (social media, website, email).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Programming/Engagement
- Plan and implement a calendar of year-round activities for all youth groups and cohorts;
- Create age appropriate programs that are designed to engage current members and attract new members;
- Staff all youth and family programming events;
- Coordinate efforts to develop a youth leadership pipeline, with the ultimate goal of developing a self-sustaining leadership cohort;
- Connect and communicate with parents, facilitating relationships between our congregation and member families;
- Work with Clergy in planning and facilitating youth related events for Jewish holidays (Purim, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah, etc).
- Religious School
- Assist the Religious School Director with elements of Religious School as assigned and needed. This could include substituting for classes, facilitating pre-class snack sales, etc.
- Administration
- Coordinate and oversee all elements of calendaring and budgeting for Youth Group related programming;
- Represent our congregation within the greater Broward Jewish Youth Community, URJ community, and beyond;
- Document interactions and key moves management items to best steward our families.
- Marketing/Social Media
- Content creation, including videos, photos, long form posts; Comfort in working with various graphic design products like Canva, Adobe, etc are a must.
- Coordinate article distribution/press releases with local media;
- Photographing events, and leveraging those photos to tell a compelling story;
- Creation of a social media calendar;
- Assist our Director of Marketing and Communications on continuity of messaging across all platforms.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
- Personality – the ideal candidate must be energetic, outgoing and have strong interpersonal skills. Our next Youth Engagement Associate will be able to easily, appropriately and effectively communicate with a 6 year old, 16 year old, 36 year old and 66 year old, being able to cover most age demographics.
- Project Management – the ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple responsibilities at once, prioritizing and triaging as appropriate.
- Technological Proficiency – the ideal candidate can easily navigate social platforms, technology, etc. Prior experience in working with a CRM or ShulCloud is a plus!
- Program Development and Execution – the ideal candidate has a proven track record of designing and executing engaging and meaningful programs for a variety of target audiences.
- Understanding of Jewish rituals, lifecycle events, etc.
- Teamwork – the ideal candidate works well with both professionals and lay leaders.
- Leadership and being a role model for youth and teens.
- Education – College degree preferred
- Prior experience – 1-3 years in a professional capacity as a youth professional or similar role. Prior experience with a youth movement/youth group at the middle, high school or college level is preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and be qualified to work in the State of Florida.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary will be commensurate with experience, with our budget allowing for an annual compensation of $48,000-$55,000.
