Temple Dor Dorim (TDD) is a vibrant and inclusive Reform community located in Weston, Florida. We are a warm, welcoming, multi-generational Temple family of 280 households.  We pride ourselves on being a dynamic and engaging congregation. Temple Dor Dorim provides a house of worship for teaching, congregating, the study of Torah and the perpetuation of the Jewish religion, its heritage and values – Throughout the Generations.

We seek an enthusiastic, talented, and experienced Religious School Director who will partner with and be supported by the clergy, professional staff, and lay leadership to lead the formal and experiential education of our children and families.  The Religious School Director is responsible for all aspects of instructional leadership and educational content of the Religious School (K-12th Grades). The Religious School Director is a member of the Temple’s senior staff team. The primary responsibility of the Religious School Director is the development, implementation, and management of an innovative and engaging Religious School program.  To ensure clarity regarding the scope of work, an overview of duties are outlined below:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all of our TDD students, families, assistants, volunteers and faculty.
  • Engage regularly and build relationships with students and families.
  • Develop and continually update a dynamic curriculum and meet with parents and teachers to keep parents up to date on their child’s development and progress.
  • Create a marketing plan to promote awareness of the Religious School and its services, ensuring successful enrollment, student retention, and overseeing the assessment of child progress.
  • Communicate regularly with current and prospective Religious School families, including writing school newsletters, providing tours and follow up.
  • Plan and implement school-wide programs and holiday observances with Clergy.
  • Coordinate class-led Shabbatot with Clergy, Music Specialist, and teachers.
  • Hire, supervise, and mentor Religious School teachers, staff, substitutes, and teen assistants.
  • Hold regular staff meetings, keep staff motivated, and resolve conflicts.
  • Establish and maintain the Religious School and Religious School PTO budgets, in consultation with lay leadership, Clergy, and others.
  • Operate all administrative and programmatic aspects of the Religious School program.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and be a collaborative member of the senior staff team.
  • Represent and promote TDD in community settings. This includes networking with members of other synagogues, their Education Director, and attending community events.
  • Participate in national organizations with other Jewish educators.
  • Work with our Early Childhood Center staff to increase our transition rate. This will require involvement in our ECC programs such as Tot Shabbat, tot services, and other ECC programs and holiday observances.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Passion for Jewish learning and teaching.
  • Leadership experience in Jewish educational settings, both formal and informal (3 years preferred).
  • Commitment to Reform Judaism.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew.
  • A team player, who will work well with others and collaborate on projects with staff members and congregants.
  • Adept with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to support and honor diverse backgrounds, families, and levels of Jewish
    knowledge and engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Jewish Studies, Master’s degree preferred.

$70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience plus benefits.
