Our client, Ohel Children's Home and Family Services www.ohelfamily.org  an innovative New York based organization providing a broad array of services to the Jewish community and the general population in trauma, mental health, developmental disabilities, elder care, summer camping and more, along with consultations across the U.S., is seeking a Director of Development. This full-time position is based in Brooklyn.

As Director of Development, you will be responsible for the stewardship of current donors as well as the identification, solicitation, and cultivation of a new pool of donors.  The Director will report to the CEO, strengthening relationships with key members of the community in order to enhance Ohel’s fundraising reach locally and nationally, while managing their own portfolio of donors. You will work collaboratively to develop Ohel’s fundraising strategy moving forward, identifying gift opportunities for the agency.   

This highly experienced individual will join the Development team, in fundraising for both Annual and Capital Campaigns. Working with an active Board of Directors and a committed donor base, the successful candidate will bring his or her own creative approach to expanding on major annual and capital gifts. A strong set of systems are currently in place. 

Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience at an Executive level Development position, successfully fundraising approximately $2 million annually, is required. 
  • Highly motivated, creative, and independent professional.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, public speaking and writing skills, good knowledge of technology and social media, managing large events are all essential to succeed.
  • Compassion and passion are important personality traits.
