POSITION: 5th and 6th Grade Judaic Studies Teacher at Agudas Achim Congregation of Northern Virginia

Job Description: This 5th and 6th grade Judaic Studies teacher will utilize formal and informal classroom methods, including discussions, lectures, reading and writing activities, art, creative drama, film, video, and games to teach Jewish history, ethics, and values. They will promote an in-depth understanding of selected material rather than providing a broad sweep of historical information. 5th graders explore Jewish history from the Second Temple period through the 19th century CE and 6th graders investigate our history from the 19th century CE through the mid-20thcentury CE. This position is held by one teacher who splits each school session between the two classes.
Qualifications: The ideal 5th/6th grade Judaic Studies teacher should be currently enrolled in a post high school learning program or have completed their bachelor’s degree or other post high school program. The teacher must be able to effectively engage students in this age group and use age-appropriate classroom behavior management strategies and techniques to promote a healthy learning environment for all learners. All staff at Agudas Achim are required to undergo regular background checks.
