Hebrew Academy of Miami, a growing Modern Orthodox high school in sunny Miami Beach, is seeking applicants for a full-time English teacher to join our team of dedicated professionals who believe in the pursuit of excellence and attention to the needs of each individual student in a caring environment permeated with Torah values.

The primary and essential duties/responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement engaging and effective English curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
  • Assess and evaluate student learning, provide constructive feedback to students and families, and adjust instruction as needed to maximize student success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within and across subject areas to ensure integrated and interdisciplinary instruction.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school events in support of school and community.
  • Fulfill other non-teaching duties as assigned by the Principal.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Possess an understanding of current teaching best practices, including pedagogies specific to the teaching of English and child/adolescent development.
  • Model flexibility in both implementing best learning practices and pursuing success for each student.
  • Demonstrate fluency with academic technology that advances learning for students.
  • Personalize instruction and assessment to maximize student learning.
  • Create a stimulating and challenging learning environment with an emphasis on student learning.
  • Develop a strong rapport with students and foster excellent classroom culture incorporating the use of fair and consistent standards.
  • Provide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication.
  • Develop lessons that engage students in higher order thinking.
  • Provide a safe learning environment in which students freely take intellectual and creative risks and see failure as a critical part of the learning process.
  • Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset and encourages students to set realistic goals and use their time in a constructive and balanced manner.
