Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and creative Development and Marketing Assistant to join our team. This fully remote, entry level role will provide administrative support to the Development and Marketing team, helping to ensure smooth operations, strong donor and foundation engagement, and consistent messaging across platforms. Although the role will be more development-heavy, you will be working at the intersection of development and marketing for the organization.
Under the leadership of the Director of Development and Marketing, there will be monthly check-in meetings and regular communication. The role will report directly to the Associate Director of Development and Marketing, with weekly check-ins.
The ideal candidate is based in the New York tri-state area and able to attend occasional in-person meetings at our Brooklyn office, approximately once per month. However, for the right candidate this is not a requirement. Our team is growing, and opportunities for growth are possible - we are looking for someone enthusiastic and motivated. The hours are flexible within reason, with an expectation to overlap for much of the day with East Coast hours.
Responsibilities:
Development Support
- Assist with donor database management and data entry
- Help track gifts, acknowledgments, and donor engagement activities
- Email new high-level donors with goal of setting meetings with Director of Development
- Support/proofread grant applications and donor reports
- Conduct donor and foundation research
- Coordinate with administrative team to ensure accurate reporting and donor stewardship
Marketing Support
- Maintain organized digital files and content libraries for marketing materials
- Support creation and editing of donor and foundation communications and updates
- In conjunction with our Israel-based marketing team, monitor and proofread marketing drafts, eblasts, social media content, the AFMP website, and other online materials for clarity and consistency.
- Maintain the same level of clarity and consistency across platforms with print materials.
- Liaise with vendors as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, marketing, or a related field
- One to two years of experience in nonprofit development, marketing, or communications (internship and part-time experience considered)
- Experience and comfort level in the Jewish/Israeli landscape
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
- Experience with CRM systems such as DonorPerfect preferred
- Familiarity with tools like Canva is a plus
- Collaborative, proactive, and positive attitude
Compensation
$50,000 per year, unlimited PTO with supervisor approval; blackouts during major campaigns (High Holidays, End of Year, Passover), Work from Home budget and Professional Development budget. Health insurance available and paid for by employer.
