Position Summary
The Jewish Federation of St. Louis is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Communications and Public Relations Coordinator to help tell the powerful stories of our work, engage the broader community, and elevate the public profile of Federation and our partners. This role is responsible for drafting press releases and media content, supporting messaging strategies, and ensuring that our values, programs, and impact are communicated clearly and consistently across all platforms.

Objectives of the Role
- Increase positive visibility of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis through proactive media outreach, storytelling, and content development.
- Identify storytelling opportunities and create content tailored for various traditional and digital channels and audiences.
- Ensure timely, clear, and consistent communication to stakeholders and community partners.
- Support the execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that advances Federation’s mission, values, and programs, through its Strategic Plan priorities.
Responsibilities
Public Relations & Media Outreach
- Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and op-eds that promote Federation’s work, events, and community impact.
- Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts, including local Jewish press, general interest media, and national Jewish outlets.
- Support Federation leaders in preparing for interviews, community events, and public speaking opportunities.
- Monitor and track press coverage and media impressions; maintain internal press archive.
Organizational Messaging
- Collaborate with departments across the Federation to ensure consistent and compelling messaging aligned with our mission, voice, and strategic goals.
- Assist in developing leadership messaging, statements, talking points, and internal briefings for priority initiatives.
- Help manage sensitive and crisis communications with a values-based, community-centered approach.
Content Development
- Write and edit content for external communications, including donor newsletters, community announcements, and event materials.
- Work with the marketing team to tell community stories that reflect the diversity, strength, and vibrancy of Jewish life in St. Louis.
- Provide writing support for major campaigns, such as annual fundraising appeals and community-wide initiatives.
Digital Collaboration
- Partner with digital team to ensure consistency across email marketing, social media, and website content.
- Ensure written content meets accessibility and inclusivity standards, and is reflective of the Federation’s values and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Jewish culture, history, and communal values is strongly preferred.
Experience working in a nonprofit, Jewish organization, or mission-driven setting.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools, CRM systems, or project management platforms (e.g., Meltwater, Monday.com).
Experience in speechwriting or executive communications.
Basic graphic design skills and/or experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Knowledge of web content management systems.
Understanding of communications strategies related to advocacy, public affairs, or community engagement.
