We are seeking a creative, warm, and proactive Curriculum Coordinator & Lead Afterschool Group Leader/Teacher AND Afterschool Group Leader/Teachers to join our team. Please see both descriptions below!
ShalomBASE Curriculum Coordinator and Afterschool Group Leader/Teacher
Hours: Monday–Friday, 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM (aligned with Brookline Public Schools calendar)
Position Type: Part Time, Non-exempt Employee
Start Date: August 18, 2025
Reports To: Afterschool and Enrichment Programs Director
Compensation: $26 - $28/hour, commensurate with experience
This unique role combines direct classroom teaching with curriculum creation. You’ll bring joyful, camp-style Jewish learning to life for students in grades K–2, while helping shape a vibrant and inclusive educational environment rooted in Jewish values, exploration, and community. Ideal candidates are warm, creative, and flexible educators with a passion for building community and bringing Jewish learning to life through play.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to…
- Develop engaging Jewish enrichment curriculum that integrates Jewish values, holidays, culture, and Hebrew through play, hands-on learning, crafts, movement, and exploration.
- Create and facilitate Hebrew and Judaic activities that feel like summer camp year-round.
- Supervise and lead a group of K–2 students daily and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt activities for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Model respectful behavior and nurturing care.
- Lead weekly curriculum planning sessions with staff and oversee curriculum implementation.
- Participate in daily walking bus transporting students safely from local schools.
- Maintain positive communication with families, co-workers, and program leadership.
- Assist with set-up, clean-up, and ensure smooth daily operations.
Core Competencies and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in educational or enrichment settings. Background in Jewish education, early childhood, or related field preferred.
- Curriculum development experience and passion for experiential, hands-on learning.
- Hebrew fluency (speaking and writing) preferred
- Familiarity with child development and ability to adapt for diverse learners.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass background and fingerprint checks.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must meet one of the following: have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree and have three months of experience working with school age children OR have a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program OR have nine months of experience with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age childcare program.

- Stamina and physical ability to walk 30 consecutive minutes (walking bus)
- Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, see and hear to supervise children, lift, climb. Squat, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, push/pull, etc.

- Earned Sick Time: Part time Employees earn one (1) hour of Earned Sick Time for every 30 hours of work.
