The Leffell School, a dynamic, independent K-12 Jewish school in Westchester County 30 minutes north of New York City that emphasizes academic excellence, traditional Jewish learning and values, and a strong sense of community, is seeking an outstanding, passionate, and experienced Tanakh and Mishnah/Gemara teacher to join our Middle School Limudei Kodesh Team, teaching grades 6-8.
The ideal candidate has experience teaching middle school students, and expertise in Tanakh, Mishnah/Gemara, and tefilah. This individual is a collaborative colleague who is capable of creating dynamic and active lessons that engage students in content and meaning, while facilitating personal connections with the material and teaching critical skills. Ultimately, this colleague understands students and their needs and is able to energize them, inspiring them to love Jewish learning in both traditional and experiential settings.
Master's degree in Jewish education is preferred. The ability to support and teach students who learn with difficulty will be extremely helpful, but is not a prerequisite for applying. The ability to teach in Hebrew is also a plus, but not required. Compensation commensurate with experience.
