Who We Are

NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through dynamic Torah learning and impactful educational programming to help them develop a strong Jewish identity. Through immersive experiences such as classes, mentorship, retreats, and travel to Israel, NCSY empowers teens to become committed members of the Jewish people and future Jewish leaders.
 
The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a wide range of programs and services, including synagogues, youth outreach, Israel advocacy, programs for individuals with disabilities, and kosher certification.

Position Summary

The Las Vegas NCSY City Director is responsible for engaging Jewish public school teens across the Las Vegas area through Torah-centered education and leadership development. This role focuses exclusively on high school teens, with no responsibilities for Junior NCSY (middle school). The City Director will run educational programs, facilitate meaningful Torah learning opportunities, and recruit teens for regional and national NCSY programming. The Director will also represent NCSY within the broader community, including schools, synagogues, parents, and donors.
 
This position reports to the West Coast NCSY Regional Director.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

Torah Learning & Education

  • Teach Torah classes and educational content in JSU (Jewish Student Union) clubs and at NCSY events.
  • Develop engaging Torah learning opportunities that inspire teens to connect with their Jewish identity.
  • Host Shabbat meals and holiday gatherings to reinforce Jewish learning and community values.
  • Recruit and prepare teens for NCSY regional Shabbatons, summer programs (especially TJJ), and national leadership conferences.

JSU Club & Event Programming

  • Run 4–6 weekly JSU clubs at public high schools during lunch or after school, emphasizing Torah education.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, faculty advisors, and club boards to ensure high-quality programming.
  • Organize at least one monthly large-scale event with a strong educational component.
  • Coordinate 2–3 local Shabbatons per year and periodic Shabbat meals.
  • Run periodic chessed (community service) programs that integrate Torah values and teachings.

Leadership Development

  • Recruit and mentor teens for JSU-LI (Leadership Initiative).
  • Attend and recruit for the JSU Presidents Conference in New Jersey.
  • Participate in staff rotation for Yarchei Kallah when assigned.

Regional Collaboration

  • Recruit for and attend West Coast regional Shabbatons, leadership seminars, and other regional events.
  • Submit program write-ups, photos, and marketing materials to highlight educational successes.

Community Outreach

  • Build relationships with parents, community leaders, synagogues, and Jewish organizations across Las Vegas.
  • Promote NCSY’s mission and Torah-centered impact through newsletters, community events, and social media.
  • Serve as a point of contact for donors and assist with local fundraising efforts in coordination with the Regional Director.

Sample Weekly Schedule

  • 4–6 JSU club meetings per week at Las Vegas high schools, focused on Torah learning.
  • 1–2 evening teen programs (e.g., Torah classes, board meetings, educational events).
  • 1 rotating monthly event (Shabbaton, chessed, regional travel, etc.).
  • Administrative time for planning, logistics, marketing, communication, and database entry.
  • Weekly team check-ins with West Coast NCSY staff and leadership via Zoom.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Torah education and Jewish outreach.
  • Passion for teaching Torah and fostering Jewish identity in teens.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $85,000, commensurate with experience.
